Obsession [NOT the movie]

#irl#life

All my life i feel I've been obsessed with stuff. Not one thing constantly, but weekly or biweekly series of them. Just this last week I've learned about crypto and stocks, the week before i played cod mobile every single day, the week before I was doing a ton of working out, the week before i was learning about cooking.

And I look back at childhood and I had several RC car obsessions, resulting in yearly RC car gifts. I have had a ton of different collections. Pinecones and acorns when I was maybe 6, hotwheels when I was 7, legos when I was 8, nerf when i was 10-14 , knives as I've grown, cards a couple years ago, fountain pens this year and last. I also have coins, books, dvds, and several large collections of files from anything from niche british tv, to 80s retro consoles. [Added 8-11-26: I have written stories and several essays most of my life, and writing like this is very fulfilling to me.]

I place multiple amazon orders weekly, I feel sorry for the drivers coming all the damn time. I get dopamine hits from buying and collecting things.

My room is a mess, that's the least obsessive thing about me. I cannot manage to get it straight for longer than a week. Same but lesser so with my desk. I always seem to go "Oh that could be useful, so I hoard things in my desk. Old chargers, manuals for things I've put together, giftcards that may or may not have money on them, things I wrote when I was like 14, just snippets of details I never wrote into a story. WHY DO I HAVE THIS STUFF. Old dead phones, a cheap tablet, 2 dead handheld consoles.

Speaking of consoles, I have a wii with ROMS in it, I've had two different handhelds, My laptop used to be full of ROBS, as was my phone. My 3ds is FULL of TONS of games. I guess I can consider myself a data hoarder, but also a lover of meddling. A kindle, one of the old handhelds, my wii, and my 3ds were all modded. It's so fun doing things I'm not intended to do.

I don't know why I am this way. I cannot manage to keep one hobby for over a week or two. Is this normal? It just feels weird from a bird's eye view.
