Fable 5 is a model released by Anthropic in June, it was pulled after 3 days or so of operation by the US Government. Since then it went into limbo, till Friday.
They re-released it, with more protections.
You can use it with your claude paid account, which lets yoy use it for up to 50% of total weekly usage, until the 7th. Then it goes into Very expensive pricing. Its like their introductory promotion.
I've found it to be very capable for making web apps, improving code, and working with little direction.
However, it hasnt done anything that I wouldnt think Opus would do.
Opus has done be very well, with some good starting direction. Sonnet does well on its own, or with some good direction, and it asks me questions alot. All good things.
Fable is more autonomous, but it doesnt feel like how some explain it. It just feels premium, but not game changing.
An example I thought up was this. If the FBI has a case it can handle, they have all the information they need, then Fable is like sicking the NSA and CIA onto the case. Its alot of power, but not significantly different capabilities.
Also Deepseek v4 pro is also capable. It changed my mobile app just as well as Opus did, but did need more direction. This isnt a problem because its literally a 10th of the price to use the same amount. Deepseek v4 Fast is also very good, its faster, similarly capable, but much worse at autonomous action.
Overall, Fable is good, but overrated.
I feel like people need to use AI as a tool. It shouldn't be doing literally everything, just the heavy lifting. It is not a God. It is not sentient, it is a TOOL.
[I have a principal in my brain. Any writing I do, the creative aspect, is only done with my hands. I do not use AI in the writing of these little rants. Ai to me should only be a tool, therefore it can read and breakdown my text, consider gaps, or describe other pages I havent looked at in a minute. It can generate summaries. But I do NOT use it for the writing itself.]
